Campaigns Officer - based in Guildford - Salary £26,000 per annum on a fixed term 12 month contract with potential to extend subject to funding

Cycling UK is the national cycling charity. We campaign nationally and locally for safe and attractive cycling conditions, as well as promoting cycling in all its forms for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through our local volunteer groups and nationally co-ordinated projects.

The post-holder will work on all of Cycling UK’s campaigns on and off-road which include road safety, infrastructure and off-road access campaigns, all aimed at removing barriers to cycling. The role includes lead responsibility for our current funding campaign in England and our infrastructure related campaigning in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The post requires excellent written, interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to grasp legal issues and communicate them clearly being an advantage. If you’ve got the political nous, campaigning skills and enthusiasm to champion cycling and get the UK cycling then we want to hear from you.

Volunteer Groups Engagement Officer - Based in Guildford £26,000pa

Volunteer Groups Engagement Officer - based in Guildford on a fixed term full time contract to  May 2020 with the potential for extending subject to funding.

 

Are you looking for a Volunteering role in a charity organisation? Cycling UK is seeking a Volunteer Engagement Officer to join our newly formed Volunteering Team. This team is both responsible for our volunteer network which includes 7000 registered volunteers and 1800 unregistered volunteers, and for the development and implementation of a brand-new volunteering strategy.

The successful applicant will be confident engaging with a people from all walks of life with a variety of communication methods. You’ll have strong experience of project management and delivering administrative tasks for programmes, projects and events for volunteers.

This post is full-time, but flexibility will be considered depending on experience. Big Bike Revival Cycling Development Officer

Campaigns and Policy Manager Scotland - based in Scotland working remotely - Salary £30,000pa

Cycling UK is a UK wide cycling charity. We campaign across the four nations and locally for safe and attractive cycling conditions, as well as promoting cycling in all its forms for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through our local volunteer groups and nationally co-ordinated projects.

Collaborative campaigning by active travel groups including Cycling UK, through the Walk Cycle Vote campaign, has already led the Scottish Government to double its spending on active travel. To encourage and support people to get riding, Cycling UK also has a well- established development officer team who work across a range of different projects in local communities.

The Campaigns and Policy Manager is a new role intended to build on the engagement and influencing already undertaken in Scotland. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on Cycling UK’s campaigning and policy work in Scotland, reporting to Cycling UK’s Head of Campaigns and Advocacy. For campaigns this will require collaborative work with partner organisations and campaign groups/volunteers, liaising closely with other Cycling UK staff working in Scotland. For policy work this will require similar collaboration and liaison, plus engagement with Cycling UK’s Associate Director of Policy. For both policy and campaigns, the role will require landscape planning to scope and identify future opportunities and priorities for campaigning, lobbying, engagement and policy influencing.

The post requires excellent written, interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to engage various audiences and understand policy issues. If you’ve got the political nous, people and campaigning skills, and the enthusiasm to champion cycling to get more people cycling then we want to hear from you.

Community Cycle Club Engagement Officer – based in Manchester – salary £24,000 per annum on a fixed term 12 month contract.

Cycling UK is the national cycling charity running community based behaviour change programmes to increase cycling participation levels across the country. Community Cycle Clubs are a key project within this engaging thousands of people in traditionally hard to reach groups with the joy of cycling, learning new skills and improving their physical and mental well-being. The Cycling UK Behaviour Change and Development Team are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual with experience of project delivery and evaluation to take on the exciting opportunity of developing the Community Cycle Club project and effectively demonstrate impact across the country. The role holder needs to be confident in engaging with a wide range of people and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills; you will work within a team to understand and develop the Community Cycle Club project and will have the opportunity to travel within the UK working directly with community groups and club volunteers.

Cycling UK is the national cycling charity delivering training courses, volunteer engagement and community based behaviour change programmes to increase cycling participation levels across the country. The Behaviour Change and Development Team run these key projects engaging thousands of people in traditionally hard to reach groups with the joy of cycling, learning new skills and improving their physical and mental well-being. The Team are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual with experience of project delivery and evaluation to join as Project Support Officer at this exciting time of growth and development. The role holder needs to have excellent administration skills, be confident in engaging with a wide range of people and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills; you will work within a team and have the opportunity to work across a wide range of development projects to give a broad experience base.

Cycling Development Officers x 3 – Portsmouth, Essex and Norfolk - salary £24,000 per annum on a fixed term 12 month contract with potential to extend subject to funding

Cycling UK is the national cycling charity delivering community-based behaviour change programmes to increase cycling participation levels in traditionally hard to reach groups across the country. The Behaviour Change and Development Team run these projects engaging with thousands of people every year and are looking to extend the team in an exciting period of growth. We are looking for three new Cycling Development Officers to develop the Big Bike Revival and Community Cycle Clubs in Portsmouth, Essex and Norfolk focusing on three key areas:

  • Portsmouth
  • Essex focusing on Chelmsford, Colchester and Basildon.
  • Norfolk focusing on Norwich and the surrounding areas

The job holder will have experience of community-based projects, engaging with wide groups of people and have exceptional relationship building and communication skills. You will work within a team of development officers based across England and will be required to travel across the designated area and nationally for team meetings on occasion.
