About us

James Social Cycling are a Cycling UK affiliated group.

I offer a few different Social Rides to the group, Beginner rides - riding 10/15mls, Social Rides 20/40mls

Friendly Group of different ages, youngest 9yrs old and oldest 60+ so age is not a concern. Abilities again all very mixed, from beginners to experienced riders, so you wont be left mulling over how to fix that puncture or maintenance issue on route, because usually you'll find some just take over the task without a thought.

I have a Team of 4 riders who can lead the rides, this helping the group if numbers are high for the weekend, meaning the group can be split, if lead riders available. Again there will be no experience and beginner rider split, the groups split will be mixed.

All my routes are mapped via a Cafe Stop, so this could be in the middle or at the end. I will always put these details in the ride details, as can make a difference to the distance some people can ride.

Bike Maintenance is crucial for you and the group to enjoy the ride. On route punctures can and will happen, so please be sure you have at least one spare tube and the tools to fix it. You will have plenty of people willing to help, so no need to worry. Also making sure your bike is well maintained will make the ride easier for you and your bike will last longer. Always advisable to get your bike serviced if not been ridden for a few month or longer before joining the group rides. Any questions please ask before or during the ride. I will be happy to help.

I take a number of photo before and maybe during the ride, which I do upload on the James Social Cycling Facebook page and I am known to Vlog on YouTube as well, so may use some images or ride footage. Please let me know if this is aan issue.

Ride Start

Sherfield on Loddon has a free carpark situated just across the cross roads coming from A33 off Bramley Road on the Left Corner. This is always empty Saturday/Sundays, unless Village Fete or the like, but can be busy of an evening due to football practice. Additional parking can be found opposite The Hart Pub which is right at the cross roads… Please note, We do not have permission to park in the Pub Carpark.

Please Note: Car Park has a Height Barrier, so all Roof Rack users there is parking before the barrier.

Bramley has the Village Hall carpark situated off Minchens Lane near the Clift Surgery. This is off The Street, main road through Bramley. It does state for Village Hall use only, but it is ok for us to use weekends and evening.

Please Note: Car Park has a Height Barrier, so all Roof Rack users will have to dismount the bike before ebtering.

As I said, we are not a Club, so do not expect set speeds for the rides. Only Part set in stone is the Distance and Cafe Stop.

Hope to see you soon.

Information about the group rides

James Social Cycling are a Cycling UK affiliated group.

I offer a few different Social Rides to the group, Beginner rides - riding 10/15mls, Social Rides 20/40mls

Beginners Rides are for beginners who would like to try riding in a small group with an experienced rider at the helm. My rides will be 10/15 miles at a pace to suit all. So could be at a speed as little as 9mph average. We ride to the slowest riders pace. There will be experienced people on hand to aid with any issues on the ride and if you have any questions before please let me know and any after, can be discussed over a coffee/tea at the cafe stop. These rides are suitable for all the family, someone coming back from injury or for any rider wanting to try out a group ride for the first time. Also these rides are good way for you nervous bunch to come ride with me for a short ride and get a feel for what the rides are about.

Social Rides are for all riders who feel they can ride the distance stated on the ride details. This will be from 20/40 mls. I am not a Club, so do not expect Club speeds, again these will ride around 10/13mls average speed, we ride to the slowest paced rider, no one gets left behind. All I ask is that you know the distance of the ride and confident you can manage the ride. I am happy for you to bring the family on these rides, but all miners must be accompanied by an adult.

As I said, we are not a Club, so do not expect set speeds for the rides. Only Part set in stone is the Distance and Cafe Stop.

Hope to see you soon.
