Author Peter Walker talk on "how cycling can save the world"
Pedals, the Nottingham Cycle Campaign, is holding its 40th anniversary event this year. This event is planned to be on 8th June, and will tie in with the start of Bike Week (8-16th June).
We're very fortunate to have Peter Walker from The Guardian join us to talk about "how cycling can save the world" and do a Q&A session afterwards. He is the author of "Bike Nation: how cycling can save the world”. This is a brilliant book about the benefits of cycling for society. The venue is probably going to be at Broadway Cinema but this is to be confirmed at present.
We want to include other speakers at the event and have a celebration with refreshments afterwards. We plan to invite other cycling/active travel/environmental groups, including Ridewise, Notts Cycling UK, Nottingham Bikeworks etc, to participate and City and County Council Officers and Councillors to attend.
We hope to plan other attractions in the Market Square like stalls for different cycling and environmental groups, and possibly live music!
We really want to turn the day into a celebration for helping to make Nottingham great cycling city!
NB. DETAILS OF TIME AND VENUE ARE TO BE CONFIRMED
