Break the Cycle Christmas Games

Festive fun with cycling stars

Watch Cycling UK and special guests with some festive fun and games. Expect plenty of funny stories and laughs, and some top stars getting competitive with each other.

Who can keep a straight face when telling a big lie? Who was the most embarrassed when we played a game of “who said this”?

Throughout the night we also highlighted some of our projects and campaigns, so you can see what we have accomplished as a charity in the last 12 months, as well as showcasing our Break the Cycle appeal.

The event was first streamed live on Cycling UK's Facebook page and YouTube channel on Friday 18 December. You can still support the campaign until 31 January through the donation numbers shown in the show.

Special guests from the world of cycling

Hosted by Anna Glowinski, and with the fantastic Lorraine Dixon as quizmaster, we were joined by cycling glitterati.

Katie Archibald
Katie Archibald

Olympic champion and Team GB rider Katie is super competitive on the track, so we’re expecting her to show just as much desire to win at our Christmas Games! A member of the Great Britain 2016 Olympic champion team in women's team pursuit, she is also a World and European champion and a world record holder. In 2017 she was appointed MBE for services to cycling.

With her 2020 cycling plans disrupted by the coronavirus, join us to find out if she spent lockdown swotting up on her cycling knowledge.

Ned Boulting
Ned Boulting

Ned is an award winning sports journalist, television presenter, author, podcaster, and acknowledged as the authoritative voice of cycling.

Having covered every Tour de France since 2003, along with a host of other live sporting events, he is a living, breathing encyclopaedia for cycling. While he continues to write books, record podcasts, and commentate on all the biggest races, he also edits The Road Book – road cycling’s inimitable, colossal almanack that covers the year’s racing. No pressure Ned, but your teammate will be expecting big things in our quiz rounds…

Orla Chennaoui
Orla Chennaoui

Orla is a multilingual TV sports presenter, host and journalist with over 17 years’ experience working in both news and sport.

Orla specialises in cycling and the Olympic Games and has presented on location from all the grand tours, as well as two Olympic and one Commonwealth Games. With all that experience of live presenting, she should hold up under pressure when tested by Anna and Lorraine!

Mani Arthur
Mani Arthur

Mani is a competitive cyclist who works a full-time job and manages one of the fastest growing cycling clubs in the world, the Black Cyclists Network (BCN). Mani is currently setting up Britain’s first BAME race squad for 2021. The project also aims to do social outreach in the community to bring more people into cycling.

Mani lists his greatest achievement as competing in the 2019 African Games Cycling Road Race against Tour De France polka dot jersey wearer Daniel Teklehaimanot and Chris Froome’s mentor David Kinjah – but that was before he attempted to win the Break the Cycle Christmas Games!

 Adam Blythe
Adam Blythe

Adam is an English former professional road and track racing cyclist, who competed for a number of top teams. He’s a British Road Race champion and is now a top pundit and commentator, regularly appearing on Eurosport.

Stepping in as a super-sub at the last minute (we’ll miss you Matt Stephens) Adam has had the least amount of time to prepare for the games, but we’re tipping him to do well with his cycling knowledge and to be bringing plenty of stories from the world of cycling too!

Rebecca Charlton
Rebecca Charlton

TV presenter and journalist Rebecca will be a familiar face to many as a cycling host and public speaker, frequently found presenting elite bike races and at events like the 6 Day Series in London.  She’s also a regular contributor to Cycling UK, with advice on women’s cycling and appearing on several of our chat programmes.

Rebecca has recently presented the Zwift Academy roadshow – but although she has graduated the academy, will she have done her homework ahead of our Christmas Games?

Narinder’s story
All for a good cause

Cycling UK’s charitable work promotes cycling, protects the interests of existing and would-be cyclists, and inspire people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover the benefits of cycling.

We can't do that without your help, as members and supporters you are part of the journey with us. During the event we will show how your support has helped us make a difference this year, and how some of Cycling UK’s community interventions are helping people to provide a little bit of normality in this tumultuous time.

We need your donations to continue this vital work and do even more to support cycling. While the event will be completely free to watch, your generosity can make such a difference to our work and enable us to do even more.

Find out how you can help Break the Cycle of social isolation this Christmas.
