Wheel Easy - Runner-up
Wheel Easy was founded in 2006 when a group of cycling aficionados decided to cycle 10 miles in the pouring rain.
Now they have 260 members and a variety of different ability rides to choose from every Sunday and Wednesday, with distances from 15 to over 100 miles.
Over 50 volunteers help to run Wheel Easy, maintaining a website with ride reports, ride calendars, photographs and with a weekly newsletter. Members have also campaigned successfully for funding for local projects including the Nidderdale Greenway and Yorkshire Showground Greenway.
Their work is inspiring, and we are pleased to recognise Wheel Easy as a group deserving of a Volunteer Award this year.
Cycling UK's Volunteer of the Year Awards are given annually to recognise and celebrate all the incredible work volunteers do in encouraging others to start cycling and keep cycling.
