2007 Volunteer of the Year for Ireland, Tom McClelland.

Tom is the leading light of the cycle campaigning community and is a supporter of sustainable cycling initiatives in Northern Ireland.

He was founder and energiser of the The Northern Ireland Cycling Initiative when it was set up in response to Sustrans receipt of funds from the Millennium Committee in 1996. Since then Tom has been contributing to the development of cycling policy and implementation of the Northern Ireland Cycling Strategy to the benefit of all cyclists.

As a result of his contribution Tom has been invited by the Northern Ireland Department of Regional Development to Chair the NI Cycling Forum for a number of years. He is a popular speaker at events all over both NI and the Republic of Ireland, where he supports the work of the campaigning community with shared experience from the UK.

Tom is also Cycling UK’s Right to Ride representative in N.I.
